Wayne County CEO Students visited with Landon Willett, co-owner of Fusion Coffee in downtown Fairfield last week. Landon explained that he began his love for coffee working at Frontier Perks on the Campus of Frontier Community College while attending there and working on his Associate Degree. It's also where he met Andrew Gifford, his co-owner in Fusion. Landon always thought he wanted to be a PE teacher... when those plans were side railed due to SIU dropping the program, he had to figure out his plan B. And landed back in Fairfield in the coffee business. He explained it hasn't always been easy... trying to rehab and remodel a downtown building in the middle of CoVid was extremely challenging. Students asked about their seasonal menus and how they come up with the different flavor options. Landon explained that many times its just playing with the flavors, and it's something both he and his employee Madeline enjoy doing. Currently, Fusion offers light food options but are hopeful to expand those options with the expansion of a commercial kitchen. They are also hopeful to partner with other local and area small businesses to expand their food service offerings as well... stay tuned!

We finished up our Fusion morning with our last Mentor Mixer of the year. Time has absolutely flown! We thank all of our mentors who have supported our students this school year! We know these students have developed a life long professional network with these local entrepreneurs and we thank them for their time!
