The Shelby County CEO program will host a Wild West-themed murder mystery dinner and silent auction from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Shelbyville Event Center.

Tickets are $45 for ages 13 and older, which includes a catered meal by Lickin My Chicken & Pullin My Pork BBQ. Fake weapons will be utilized and discharged during this event.

The Shelby County CEO program gives students from all over Shelby County a taste of what it is like to own a business. This is the second year of the program.

Seniors from Stewardson-Strasburg, Windsor, Shelbyville and Cowden-Herrick are able to apply. If there are still spots available, juniors will also be considered for application.

A Shelbyville senior, Cassidy Tucker, runs the social media for the CEO program.

During the first semester, the class creates a business together, she said. During the second semester, the money earned from the business goes toward individual businesses the class creates in the second semester.

"We're in an office every day, rather than in a classroom," Tucker said. "We get here at 7:30 a.m. and we're here until 9 a.m. We have the same dress code, we have the same rules and all of those things, so it kind of gets you into a professional setting before you go out into the real world."

She said her parents are business owners, which sparked her interest in applying for the CEO program.

"We get to see the background of businesses. First semester we took a lot of business tours, so we got to find out things about businesses that not very many people know. It was very interesting. And just networking with different people," Tucker said.

Her goal is to open a formal store in the future.

Tucker said last year the CEO group also hosted a murder mystery dinner.

"It wasn't set to be a tradition but we kind of decided to go with that," she said.

All of the money earned from the murder mystery dinner Saturday will be split 16 ways for the individual businesses created by the students. This will help jump-start their companies.

Tucker encourages everyone to come to the dinner because "it supports a really good program. This is something that we all love to do and we appreciate so much."

She said this is a program that will support all of their futures.
