During the two hour-long trade show, community members will have a chance to purchase items ranging from clothing, accessories and housewares to edibles, dog treats and more. They can also learn more about tutoring services, car detailing, media services and virtual reality tours among other things.
“This is the culmination of the school year. We don’t treat it like a class, it’s learning by doing... It’s a way for them to generate money at something they are passionate about."
For the county's first CEO trade show, held Wednesday, business leaders, government officials, and other community members funneled into Spruce St. Studios in Shelbyville to see the high school students' booths.
"Let me give you a couple examples of young people I’ve run in to recently who are doing great things and are going to make this world a better place. This isn’t just to give you some hope, but to show those students that there are people out there who are watching, who see them pursuing their dreams and who are pulling for them in a world that doesn’t always see them for who they are."
The CEO program is designed to create entrepreneurial opportunities for high school seniors in a year long course that is designed to utilize partnerships with area businesses and business leaders and provide an overview of business development.
