More than 14 restaurants have signed up to participate in the first “Taste of Sauk Valley,” a fundraiser for the Whiteside Area Career Center’s Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities class.
The CEO program, now in its 10th year and expanding across the U.S., is solely funded by business investors who mentor and support young people wanting to start their own businesses. A total of 282 high schoolers have gone through the program to date.
Progress is being made on the Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities program, an initiative aimed at training high school students to become entrepreneurs.
A newly-formed co-op partnership with Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Rochester Lourdes Catholic High School in Rochester and Mankato Loyola Catholic High School in Mankato will position Pacelli students for “accelerated success in the changing landscape of post-secondary education,” Pacelli president Jean McDermott announced on Friday.
Cindi Koll knows something about what teenagers are looking at as worthwhile careers. Koll leads the Central Minnesota CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) group of students who hail from a number of area schools. The juniors and seniors in her group tour area businesses, listen to their speakers and use the knowledge and lessons they collect to come up with their own enterprises.
